          Inclusions

While we have done our best to keep the cost down, we understand that attending Wandering Cinema is a substantial financial commitment, especially for a younger filmmaker. We are committed to making this experience an excellent value, and we believe that the opportunity to dive deep into creativity and learn from the retreat leaders, visiting filmmakers, and each other is invaluable and something that doesn't happen often. We hope you will agree.

In addition to transportation from Nice to the retreat location and back along with 7 nights of comfortable lodging, the retreat fee includes all meals, a generous amount of wine and everything you will need to have a wonderful experience. From the time we collect you before the retreat you won't need to spend a cent until we bring you back, and you'll be able to totally disconnect and be taken care of in an inspiring and relaxing environment where your brain can run free!

          The Location

This year for Wandering Cinema we'll be traveling to the Italian Maritime Alps, not far from the French border, just before the mountains meet the Mediterranean Sea. We've reserved the renovated farm building on Prati Piani, an estate that was once the summer getaway of a pasta baron. The Fattoria, or farm, produced cheese, honey and wine. At 1100 meters above sea level, wonderful walks and hikes await just outside the door. The green and wooded property also has a swimming pool, a hot tub and a sauna for our use.

Just down the hill from our estate is the atmospheric stone village of Carpasio, and the closest train station is by the sea in Arma di Taggia, 30 minutes drive away.

          Arrival and Departure

The closest airport is Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) and transportation will be provided between Nice and the retreat location, a 1.5 hour drive.

On arrival day you'll need to be in Nice by 10:30 (maybe you want to arrive a day or two early - Nice in the summer is a dream come true!). On departure day, flights shouldn't be departing before 13:00. Kat will be happy to help you find a suitable travel itinerary.

It is also possible to reach the closest train station, Taggia Arma, from major cities in Italy.

          Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

Wandering Cinema is intentionally scheduled to end just before Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Perhaps, if you have time, you'll want to travel from the retreat to the film festival. Neal, Kat and Mika will all be attending and it would be a lot of fun to keep the discussion going. KVIFF is the premiere Czech film festival, one of the best in Europe and one of the world's oldest A-List film festivals.

We love it because Karlovy Vary is a spa town from the era of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the serene environment is the perfect backdrop for this festival geared towards filmmakers and film lovers where it is easy to screen many films in one day. The programming is excellent and KVIFF hosts premieres, retrospectives and boasts an industry section.
