Inclusions
While we have done our best to keep the cost down, we understand that attending Wandering Cinema is a substantial financial commitment, especially for a younger filmmaker. We are committed to making this experience an excellent value, and we believe that the opportunity to dive deep into creativity and learn from the retreat leaders, visiting filmmakers, and each other is invaluable and something that doesn't happen often. We hope you will agree.
In addition to transportation to the retreat location and back, along with 7 nights of comfortable lodging, the retreat fee includes all meals, a generous amount of wine (and scotch!) and everything you will need to have a wonderful experience. From the time we collect you before the retreat you won't need to spend a cent until we bring you back, and you'll be able to totally disconnect, with everything taken care of for you, in an inspiring and relaxing environment where your brain can run free!

The Location
This year for Wandering Cinema we'll be traveling to the edge of the Cairngorms National Park in gorgeous Scotland. We've reserved Balnaboth House, a 400-year-old, rambling country manor (a laird's house in Scottish lingo) with a storied history and prominent local significance. We're pleased to say there's nothing very modern about this house besides its sauna and a hot tub and we'll surrounded by acres and acres of unspoilt countryside complete with ponds and streams.
Our goal is to feel total immersion in our inspiring surroundings while building relationships with each other, so Wandering Cinema is not designed to be a sightseeing experience. You are encouraged to extend your trip to enjoy the sights and culture of Scotland.
Please also take note that there is no cellular service at the retreat location due to its seclusion, however there is good enough wifi for email and to keep you connected to friends and family over whatsapp and other messaging services.
Arrival and Departure
It's easy to travel around Scotland and the greater UK on the rail system, and our pick up point will be Dundee Railway Station which is less a quick connection by direct train from Edinburgh. There is also a direct bus from Edinburgh Airport to Dundee and back. From there it's another hour's drive on to Balnaboth House.
On arrival day we will pick you up in Dundee at noon, and on departure day you'll be back there around 10:45am.
Regarding logistics: There is a FLY bus directly from Edinburgh Airport to Dundee with a journey time of 80 minutes - that will be the easiest way to get from the airport to Dundee if you're traveling directly between them. You can buy tickets, find the schedule and other info here: https://www.xploredundee.com/Fly
If you are arriving on the 7th at EDI Airport, you will need to catch the 10:30am bus. If you are departing from EDI Airport on the 14th, you will be able to take the 11am bus scheduled to reach the airport at 12:20pm so please plan accordingly. It's a really great idea to arrive in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Dundee by the 6th so you can rest up a little bit and to avoid any delays or issues on the day the retreat begins. There are some more economical lodging options in Dundee vs. Edinburgh or Glasgow, so consider that as an option if you're on a budget, plus Dundee looks like a pretty cool town.
We will also pick up and drop back off at the Dundee Railway station and you can connect to there from both Edinburgh (70 minutes) and Glasgow (90 minutes).
You can find schedules and buy tickets here:

(tickets will be less expensive purchased in advance)
Kat is very happy to help you with your flights and travel arrangements!
